Great Outdoors and In recently received a telephone call from a property owner in Harpenden with a major patio problem!
Several years ago they had a large patio laid using Indian sandstone paving; it had gradually become covered in a green algae and black spots. Every year they attempted to clean the Indian Sandstone paving using a domestic Karcher washer, this improved the appearance but they never managed to remove the black spots and lichen!
On viewing the Indian Sandstone Great Outdoors and In reassured the customers that we could return the patio back to its former glory and remove the unsightly black spots which had formed on the Indian sandstone paving. The Harpenden based customer was impressed with our knowledge and feedback Great Outdoors and In have received online from Trust a Trader and Checkatrade and agreed for Great outdoors and In to carry out the work.
On our return we firstly pre-washed the Indian Sandstone using controlled pressure / water flow, this is essential whilst cleaning Indian sandstone as high pressure washing can damage the stone. This wash removed the majority of the algae. We then applied a chemical to the paving whilst the Indian sandstone was damp, we allowed the chemical to dwell and then re washed the paving, all of the black spots were removed the results were fantastic ! The customer was thrilled with the results. We use the same method to clean Yorkstone.
